  6. Athena

    Dear sir or madam,

I would like to ask how one can receive the European certificate in counselling (ECC).
I just started working as a freelancer counsellor (mostly online sessions).
and I am an EU citizen.

I would like to ask please what is the minimal requirement
you would need for the ECC award:
    Is a Certificate/Diploma in Counselling/Psychotherapy adequate,
or a BSc/MSc/Dr in Psychology related, from an EU institute or university?
Do one needs to be a member in a national psychology association too?

    Many thanks
    Athena

Hello Athena, Thank you for your enquiry. In order to qualify for the award of the European Certificate of Counsellor Accreditation you do have to meet the criteria as set out in the Professional Training Standards Booklet. You can download a copy of this booklet by leaving your name and email address in the box at the bottom of this page.

At this time the only way to be recommended for the award is to be accredited by one of the EAC accrediting organisations of which you must be a member. If you can let us know what country you live in we can direct you to the nearest organisation. The criteria includes both academic and practical client face-to-face hours with adequate supervision.

If we can help further please let us know you can also write to

regards and success in your career
